Peyton Stewman is a Springdale native and recent graduate of the University of Arkansas who left a big impact in her sorority and at the Children’s Safety Center. While at Kappa Delta, she took a leadership position of Children’s Safety Center Coordinator and encouraged girls to start volunteering at the CSC because she loved our mission and wanted to give back to her community.
“It’s hard not to want to give and do something when you really understand the gravity of the situation,” she said. “These people really need you, and you don’t have to go crazy, but every bit counts.”

Peyton played an important role at the Children’s Safety Center by managing social media and working as a volunteer coordinator at events like “Dream Big.” While volunteering at the center, she said she learned valuable skills that have helped her in her post-graduation professional life, such as leadership, organization and time management.
“It is something you have to map out,” she said. “It’s not your job and it’s not school, so helping organize what is your calendar, what is your priority, how do you map out this time, and how do you best give up yourself [is important].”
For anyone who is interested in volunteering, Peyton’s advice is to get educated and dive in. She said finding the place where you feel most comfortable is where you will make the biggest impact.
“Educate yourself on what they do, what they need, and find the place where you best can help,” she said. “Find a place that you can continue to go back and volunteer and dig in. That’s where relationships come from and that’s where real community grows.”
To Peyton, volunteering at the Children’s Safety Center became an impactful part of her college life. She said she always felt valued, and that the people she worked with were always kind and appreciative
“It shows how much is needed from volunteers, and how much just a little bit can help,” she said. “And that’s something I brought back to Kappa Delta.”
