Dear Friends and Supporters,
As 2026 begins, we want to thank you for all your support and encouragement in 2025. We so appreciate you standing by our side as we navigated concerning funding losses! We greatly value your investment in the children we serve, and want to provide some updates regarding our current grant landscape. Though the future of these grants is uncertain, we were fortunate enough to be awarded the Arkansas Community Assistance Grant in the final days of 2025. This new grant, created by the Governor’s Office and housed by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, will help support the salaries of two advocates, four therapists, and two forensic interviewers. Though we applied for $924,713.08, we were awarded $442,000—a funding gap that only underscores the importance of community support like yours. Because this grant is temporary, CSC leadership have made the fiscally responsible decision to spread the funds out over 2026 and 2027, instead of spending them all in one year.
We are incredibly grateful to the state of Arkansas for stepping up to meet the needs of children, and to the Washington County Quorum Court for allocating funds from the county’s 2025 budget to the CSC. And, again, we are thankful for you and your willingness to help us face the challenges before us with your unwavering generosity! Together, we will continue to meet the rising demand for our services and continue to change lives in Washington County.
With gratitude,
Elizabeth Shackelford, Executive Director
